Eublemma trifasciata Moore
Thalpochares trifasciata Moore, 1881, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond., 1881: 370.
Eublemma demba Swinhoe, 1901, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 7: 472.
Diagnosis
This and E. marmorata are very similar, the forewings having darkish greenish-grey bands on a whitish ground which appears in finer bands between the dark colour. This banding is more transverse in trifasciata, the white components slightly broader and more irregular. There is an apical zone of darker colour distal to the submarginal white fascia that is more extensive (three intervenous spaces) than in E. marmorata.
Taxonomic note
Poole (1989) assigned this species to Eublemma.
Geographical range
India, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The holotype of demba has no more precise data than ‘Sarawak’. A second specimen has been taken in recent surveys in an area of disturbed lowland forest at Semongok near Kuching.
Biology
Robinson et al. (2001) listed the larva as feeding in the pods of Rivea (Convolvulaceae).
