Eublemma rhodocraspis Druce
Eublemma rhodocraspis Druce, 1909, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (8), 3: 462.
Diagnosis
This species commences a series of rather large Eublemma that are strikingly marked with pinkish grey and brown on a dull white ground. In rhodocraspis these markings are restricted to the distal part of the wings as illustrated: a brownish thumb-like mark submarginally, based on the forewing dorsum; a more general border to the hindwing.
Taxonomic note
Poole (1989) placed all these pinkish grey species in Eublemma.
Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
The holotype and one other old specimen are from Sandakan [Elopura] on the coast of Sabah. Chey (1994) recorded two in lowland secondary forest near Brumas in Sabah. Two specimens have been taken in forest at Labi and Rampayoh in the lowlands of Brunei, one in alluvial forest west of the Melinau Gorge in Sarawak, and one in lowland forest at Barito Ulu in central Kalimantan. None of these localities is above 200m.
