News & Updates

Content Updated

The content for this website has been updated. Taxonomic information has been added for nearly all of the 1,137 genera, as well as all tribes and most subfamilies.

To view Holloway’s original taxonomic notes, click the “view details” beside the heading on each genera/tribe/subfamily page.

This content update has also corrected various formatting issues across the site and added the missing tribe Careini, as well as Holloway’s notes on the placement of Oriental moths species within the genus Bleptina.

Currently, no information from The Moths of Borneo: Part Two or images from The Moths of Borneo: Part 7 are available on the website. We hope to rectify this in the near future.

Thank you to all users who got in touch regarding formatting issues or missing content. If you notice a mistake or an omission, please email info@mothsofborneo.com to help us address it.

Welcome to the New Moths of Borneo Website

The original Moths of Borneo website launched in 2003 and has served as an indispensible archive of J.D. Holloway’s work for more than two decades. Now, several key enhancements have been made to improve the usability on smartphones and other modern devices. These include a nightmode and an integrated search tool for browsing the full catalogue.

The timing of this launch corresponds with the Holloway Symposium at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. This event commemorates J.D. Holloway and celebrates his contributions with talks from international speakers and reminiscences from close colleagues.

The redesign of this website was made possible by Dato’ Henry Barlow, with vital contributions from Sofwan Badruddin.
