Eublemma radda Swinhoe
Eublemma radda Swinhoe, 1902, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 7: 472.
Diagnosis
This is a larger species than most Eublemma, but with some similarities in the fasciation of the mauve-tinged reddish brown to grey wings. The violet colour is more intense and extensive in fresh material, and the fasciation is reddish brown. The medial is double and follows a similar course to that of the previous species, but is slightly sinuous. Exterior to it is a sequence of three evenly spaced, finely crenate fasciae.
Taxonomic note
Poole (1989) assigned this species to Autoba.
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand.
Habitat preference
The two syntypes are from Sarawak without precise data, and there is a third specimen from Kuching. In recent surveys one has been taken in disturbed coastal vegetation at Mumong in Brunei, and a second was recorded at 70m in alluvial forest during the Mulu survey.
Biology
The larvae feed in the pitchers of Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae) and also pupate within them (annotated specimens in BMNH; Dover et al. (1928); Robinson et al. (2001)).
