Diagnosis

This species has a similar forewing facies to roseana and rivula except the oblique medial bar is straighter, particularly at the costa where both the other species have a stronger curve. The pale submarginal is more diffuse and also straighter, and has a short section of distinctive brown edging distad subdorsally.

Geographical range

Old World tropics and subtropics east to Tonga and New Caledonia.

Habitat preference

A singleton was taken in secondary coastal forest at 3m near Seria in Brunei, and another has been recorded from 85 miles above (?upstream from) Pontianak or Kalimantan.

Biology

Robinson (1975) noted the larva as feeding on the flower heads of Lactuca (Compositae) and Vigna (Leguminosae) in Fiji, and a record for Elephantopus in the former family is noted by Robinson et al. (2001).
