Corgatha tornalis Wileman
Corgatha tornalis Wileman, 1915, Entomologist, 48: 159.
Diagnosis
This is a smaller species than semipardata, with a distinctly pinker ground colour (though fresh specimens of semipardata can also be quite pink), but similarly strong black markings. However, on the underside, the fasciation is less crenate. The male genitalia have the central process of the valve somewhat as in nigripalpis, but the costal process is broad, straight, not quite as long as the valve but with the apex acute and with a diagnostic serrate zone on its edge ventral to the apex.
Taxonomic note
The facies and male genitalia of typical tornalis are as above, but the acute apex of the costal process is more elongate in the Taiwanese specimen dissected (slide 20691).
Geographical range
Taiwan, Borneo.
Habitat preference
All four specimens taken in recent surveys are from lowland forest at an altitude below 200m.
