Arctornis erasmia Toxopeus comb. n.
Redoa erasmia Toxopeus, 1948, Treubia, 19: 466.
Diagnosis
Toxopeus indicated that the forewing is satiny white with undulations in the gloss, and with orange-buff edging to the costa. No discal spot is mentioned. The frons and palps are marked with pale bands of colour, bone to pale fawn. The valve has a much elongated lower half that tapers to its apex, which is upturned. The harpe is small, club-shaped, armed with numerous teeth, but without a needle at its end (in comparison with satinata), which lies just in the middle of the valvular excavations. The uncus is long, projecting, cylindrical at its end.
Geographical Range
Borneo.
Taxonomic notes
The holotype of A. erasmia Toxopeus has genitalia (Fig 116) similar in uncus and valve features to those of satinata, as indicated in the original description and in the specific account. Further material is needed to assess whether it is a variant of satinata or a close sister‑species. The distal margin of the valve has the costal and ventral corners more angular, the latter more produced. The apex of the harpe is not longer than the ventral corner of the valve apex, and its apex is distinctly swollen, though still asymmetrically acute.
