Image of Lophoptera partitistis Holloway ♀

Lophoptera partitistis Holloway sp. n.

Lophoptera tripartita Swinhoe sensu Holloway, 1976: 19.

♂♀ 13-15mm. This species is slightly larger than brunnistis, the forewings somewhat deeper but of a similar brown colour. The forewing has two paler transverse zones, one between the antemedial and orbicular and the other basal to the postmedial, grading away basad; the two pale zones give the insect the appearance of a small, less intensely marked L. tripartita. In the male genitalia the valve costa is barely swollen over the basal half and the uncus is relatively much shorter than in brunnistis, the scrolled apical portion twice as large; the aedeagus vesica lacks conspicuous scobination. The female genitalia are similar to those of brunnistis but the post-ostial invagination is somewhat longer and the setose lateral lobes are spherical.
