Diagnosis
This species and the next three are the largest in the genus. L. khasiana has forewings a more indigo brown than the rest; the pale apical marks are obvious, either pale yellow or pale brown, rather than diffuse and only slightly paler than the ground.
The species is variable, with uniformly dark forewings, a general mauve-grey suffusion, or a central, u-shaped mauve-grey zone (f. coeculescens Warren); the subbasal line may be picked out finely in mauve-grey or white, or may have brownish or rufous fawn suffusion basal to it.
Geographical range
N.E. Himalaya, Tonkin, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Philippines, Sulawesi, Batjan.
Habitat preference
The majority of specimens have been taken in upper montane forest: on G. Kinabalu, on G. Mulu in Sarawak, and Bukit Retak and Bukit Pagon in Brunei.
Only two specimens have been taken in lowland forest during the surveys concerned.
