Image of Lophoptera parallelnotata Holloway ♂

Lophoptera parallelnotata Holloway sp. n.

Diagnosis

♂♀ 12-13mm.

The forewings are of similar colour and pattern to those of quadrinotata, but marginally squarer; the postmedial is transverse rather than oblique, parallel to the antemedial, and more heavily invested with mauvish grey which also extends basad to a dark brown medial band; the submarginal markings are more obscure than in quadrinotata but there is a diagnostic pale brown mark bisecting the tornal angle.

The male genitalia are similar to those of quadrinotata but more slender, the saccus narrower, the tegumen elongate rather than triangular; the valves are expanded at the base, with a lobe on the interior face of the expanded portion.
