Lophoptera obscurapex Holloway sp. n.
Diagnosis
♂♂ 11-12mm.
The species is smaller than punctapex (average 15mm) with the forewings dark vinous brown rather than indigo; the subapical spot is not yellow, merely obscurely paler than the ground; there is a paler zone over the basal part of the wing of sinuous form as in the grey cloud of the punctapex rare form, which has a small darker spot in its posterior excavation; the reniform is more excavate distally than in punctapex, and the submarginal is not whitish but pale vinous brown, following a zig-zag course anterior to the subapical patch rather than being more or less straight.

Paratype
2 ♂♂ as holotype, BM noctuid slide 10650. There are also three specimens from Bidi, Sarawak.
Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
This is probably a species of lowland rainforest.
