Lophoptera chalybea Walker
Gadirtha chalybea Walker, 1864, J. Linn. Soc. Lond., Zool. 7: 161.
Lophoptera chalybea Walker; Holloway, 1976: 19.
Diagnosis
This and the next species are very similar externally but the sub-basal line of the forewing in chalybea is more irregular, wavy; the apical pale mark has its larger, posterior element diffusing away basad rather than being contained by a black, sagittate mark (polygrapha) or lunule (khasiana). The valves of the male genitalia are stepped subapically on the costal margin, relatively narrow, rather than oval, balloon-like as in polygrapha. There is a form with rather more uniform forewings and a basal pale fawn blotch (illustrated).

Habitat preference
