Diagnosis

The forewing is fairly typical of the genus, distinguished by the oblique, dark, slightly sinuous postmedial, which has a zone of paler ground colour basad.

The conspicuous yellow basal half of the hindwing is the most distinctive feature.

Taxonomic Notes

The post-ostial invagination of the female genitalia, though very small, confirms the generic placement of this rather unusually patterned species.

Geographical range

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Philippines, Sulawesi.

Habitat preference

During the Mulu survey the species was only taken on the transect of the limestone G. Api.

The species ranged from 250m to 1500m, being most frequent in lower montane forest at 900m. There is no evidence of restriction to limestone elsewhere in the geographical range.
