Diagnosis

The male of Sundanian races is similar in markings to that of pieroides Walker but on a dull grey-blue ground rather than white and yellow (mainland Asian races have a white and yellow ground with more intense black marking). Females are much larger and are whitish, with black patches and delineation of the veins as illustrated, mimicking the danaine butterfly Ideopsis gaura Horsfield.

Geographical range

Southern China through S.E. Asia to Sundaland; Timor.

Habitat preference

The species is found in lowland areas where forest occurs.
