Carea trilineata Warren, 1912, Novit. zool., 19: 40.
Carea trichotmeta Prout, 1924, Bull. Hill Mus. Witley, 1: 418, syn. n.
Carea ferribrunnea Holloway, 1976: 26, syn. n.
Xenochroa trichotmeta Prout; Kobes, 1997: 133.
Diagnosis and taxonomic note
The species is slightly smaller than the previous two and has dark, ochreous orange-brown, uniform forewings crossed by straight and well separate blackish brown antemedial and postmedial fasciae. The synonymy brings together taxa of this facies type.
The specimen illustrated as trilineata by Kobes (1997) is probably X. transpurpuralis Holloway, but that illustrated as padangensis Roepke (Plate VIII: 284) could be trilineata. One paratype of trilineata is not conspecific (see the previous species).
Geographical range
N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species is infrequent in montane forest, recorded from 900m to 1930m.
