Diagnosis
This species and pryeri Druce both have oblique, dark brown fasciae on reddish grey-brown forewings.
The fasciae in mathilda are darker, broader, more strongly oblique, converging slightly towards the tornus rather than being parallel throughout.
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra.
Habitat preference
Three of the six specimens seen are from Sarawak, the holotype from Matang and two from dipterocarp forest at 150m at the base of G. Mulu.
A fourth is from similar habitat at 300m in the Ulu Temburong of Brunei.
The final two are from dipterocarp forest in the Barito Ulu of Kalimantan.
