Diagnosis

The forewings are deep orange, extensively suffused with dark brown and crossed by two oblique, more or less parallel, purplish black fasciae.

The hindwings are much paler, dull orange-fawn.

Taxonomic Notes

The facies and male genitalia of aetha resemble those of purpureolineata. The aedeagus vesica has a distinct subsidiary lobe immediately dorsal to the main one, and the group of cornuti is relatively distal on the former.

This group usually consists of three unequal spines.

Sundaland.

Habitat preference

The species is infrequent, montane, recorded from 1000m to 1930m.
