♂ (holotype)

Eugoa clavata Holloway sp. n.

Diagnosis

♂♀ 7mm. The forewings are dull greyish brown with a conspicuous discal dot and angled brown fasciae. The male antennae are ciliated. The male genitalia are distinguished from all congeners by the strongly incurved apically clubbed and spined saccular process on the valve as in E. signula van Eecke (Sumatra), but this is much more strongly curved, and the club is tighter; the valve also is very much more expanded centrally. E. signula has a paler fawn ground colour to the forewings and bone-white hindwings. The female genitalia have prominent pockets laterally on the seventh segment that probably receive the saccular process during copulation. The bursa is centrally constricted, the basal part with a distal row of spines, and the more distal part spined almost throughout (see Eugoa aridoides sp. n.).
