Diagnosis

This is the first of five species where the forewing ground colour is a very pale grey, fasciated by diffuse, broad, blackish bands that are of variable width. Discal dots are absent. The group can be divided into two subgroups. The first two species have a short, broad uncus and processes from the tegumen from dorsal shoulders and also more ventrally. The next three have a dorsally directed triangular process from the sacculus at about the centre of the valve. This species is characterised by diffuse expansion of the antemedial towards the dorsum and a quadrate pale indentation of the distal border of the postmedial about one-third from the costa.

Geographical Range

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.

Habitat Preference

The species is common in the lowlands, occurring in a wide range of forest types, including heath, coastal and secondary forests. The highest record is from 1000m on G. Mulu.
