Hyposada ineffectaria Walker
Acidalia ineffectaria Walker, 1861, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 23: 769.
Diagnosis
This and mollis Warren are larger, deeper winged species than the previous ones but have a similar colour scheme and hindwing fascia. Pinkish brown marking is irregular, only intense at the margin of the forewing, but this area is continued by the pink band of the central fascia of the hindwing. The hindwing has an irregular border of pinkish brown that is broader than that of the forewing. The two species differ in minor features of facies: mollis has a more conspicuous forewing discal spot; the forewing tornal dark mark is stronger in ineffectaria, and there is another at one third from the forewing apex; the pale zone immediately distal to the central fascia of the hindwing is more regular and narrower in ineffectaria, except where it broadens towards the apex of the wing and contains a dark spot just subcostally. The male genitalia of both species are of the Hyposada type, but those of ineffectaria show striking bilateral asymmetry of the valves as illustrated.
