Scopula asymmetrica Holloway sp. n.
♂♂ 8-9mm. This is a medium sized, rather grey brown species with strongly bidentate postmedial fasciae, distal to which are similarly irregular and rather broad submarginal grey bands. In facies the species bears similarities to S. limbata Warren (Taiwan), S. ophthalmica Prout (Sulawesi) and S. ocellata Warren (Sumatra, Java), but the last two are smaller, much more strongly marked, and all have the forewing discal spot blackish: in asymmetricait is the same grey as the fasciae. The extreme asymmetry of the valves of the male genitalia is diagnostic, seen much more weakly in ophthalmica and ocellata (left valves half size of right rather than vestigial).

Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
The three specimens are from widely different forest types: alluvial forest; wet heath forest (kerangas); lower montane forest on limestone.
