Diagnosis
Both sexes have a diagnostic pale whitish patch posterior to the black discal dot of the forewing, the rest of the wing being yellow, heavily suffused with black scales. Some specimens have diffuse black spots at the M1 on margin just posterior to the apex (See Nygmia castor Collenette comb.n ) but variation in Borneo is not as extreme as that illustrated for Sumatra by Schintlmeister (1994).

Habitat Preference
Most records are from lowland forest, but the species has also been recorded once from ridge forest at 900m on Bukit Monkobo, Sabah, and twice at 1618m on Bukit Retak, Brunei.
