Diagnosis
The male forewings have a pale yellow ground with two distinct overlays: a grey shading that is broadly basal to the discal spot and in an oblique postmedial band; a more sparse but uniform speckling of black scales (See Nygmia dirtea Swinhoe comb.n). In some specimens the grey extends over the whole wing. The female forewings are a deep rusty brown, uniformly and extensively irrorated with black.

Habitat Preference
This species is of similar ecological range and abundance to moalata (See Nygmia dirtea Swinhoe comb.n).
Biology
Yunus & Ho (1980) recorded the species (as ridleyi) as feeding on Eugenia (Myrtaceae) and Mallotus (Euphorbiaceae). There is an unpublished record of Shorea (Dipterocarpaceae) at FRIM.
