Callizygaena flavipicta Holloway sp. n.
♂ 11mm.
The wings and body are greenish brown as in the procridine genus Araecerodes Hampson (type species cyanescens Hampson, Burma, but there is an ochreous yellow collar at the anterior of the thorax and a patch of the same colour at the base of the forewing. The hindwing has a wedge of yellow at its base, posterior to the cell. There is a band of yellow laterally on each side of the abdomen. These yellow markings resemble those seen in some Cleoda species. The chaetosemata and the convergence of CuA2 and CuP towards the margin of the hindwing are also features seen in Cleoda; the condition of the chaetosemata would indicate association with Callizygaeninae or Chalcosiinae. No males of Araecera species were known to Jordan (1907), and none has been located for comparison here. The antennae are bipectinate. The eighth segment is unmodified, though the sclerites are somewhat reduced. There are no coremata immediately distal to it. In the genitalia, the uncus is relatively long, and is narrowly and acutely bifid over its distal half. The capsule is broad, circular when slide-mounted. The valves are relatively short, hastate, directed obliquely upwards. The inner margin of the sacculus gives rise to somewhat triangular processes centrally. The aedeagus is slender, straight.
