Diagnosis
This species resembles G. melancholica but is a slightly bluer green, with the ground colour slightly paler distal to the postmedials.
The forewing margins are less curved than in melancholica. The ventral lobe of the valve is prominent.
The eighth sternite bears a pair of spines like antelope horns.
Taxonomic Notes
In M. hemitheoides Prout comb. n. there is an asymmetrically bicornute process to the valve just ventral to the usual lobe.
The spines on the eighth sternite are adjacent, not well separated.

Borneo.
Habitat preference
All material taken during the Mulu survey is from lower montane forest at 1000m on G. Mulu and 900m on G. Api.
On G. Kinabalu the species is frequent from 1500m to 1930m.
