Luxiaria emphatica Prout; Holloway, 1982: 248.

Diagnosis

This is a species with a pale yellow ground that could be confused with L. amasa or L. tephrosaria. The male lacks the rich brown mottling of the former but has a stronger postmedial plus submarginal band than the latter. Below, the fasciation is strong, dark brown in both sexes, lacking the pale quadrant of amasa. In tephrosaria the fasciation is much weaker, yellowish.

Taxonomic notes

Holloway (1982) established the synonymy of versiformis and emphatica, a possibility not excluded by Prout in his original descriptions.

Geographical range

N.E. Himalaya, Sundaland.

Habitat preference

The species ranges from 1000m to 2500m but is commonest in the upper montane zone.
