Diagnosis

The male has a pale yellow ground, with the border distal to the postmedial of both wings mottled broadly with rich brown not seen in other pale yellow congeners. The postmedials are not markedly punctate. Below, the fasciation is medium brown, with a large, quadrate pale zone at the forewing apex. In the male genitalia the flange of the ventral arm is narrow as in subrasata but often bears a spur. The juxta is diagnostically scobinate on each side.

Geographical Range

Japan; N. India, Nepal, Taiwan (ssp. fasciosa); Borneo, Sumatra, Java (ssp. fulvifascia Warren); Sulawesi (ssp. noda Prout).

Habitat Preference

This is a montane species, somewhat more frequent in the lower montane zone.
