Diagnosis

This and the next species are very similar and are perhaps best distinguished by genitalic features. However anisocosma Prout is a more fluorescent mauvish pink rather than reddish, with a distinct but diffuse dark area at the hindwing angle. In both, the male is less heavily marked with pink than the female with the central zone of the hindwing and, to a lesser extent, the forewing broadly yellow. In the male genitalia there is a lateral spur to the long spine of the valve: this is larger and more distal in conversata, and the spine itself is more slender with greater curvature apically.

Geographical range

Borneo, Sumatra (Heterocera Sumatrana colln).

Habitat preference

All material is from lowland localities, with some indication of a preference for swamp forest, e.g. the Badas area of Brunei and the Baram plain of Sarawak.
