Syntomis dilatata Snellen, 1881, Veth Midden Sumatra, 4 : 33.
Syntomis euryptera Hampson, 1898: 87, syn. n.
Diagnosis
See Amata egenaria Walker. The yellow areas of both forewing and hindwing are more extensive than in related species; the hindwing has only a narrow dark brown border.
Taxonomic notes
The original illustration of dilatata accords closely with the holotype of euryptera, thought the latter and Peninsular Malaysia examples have the yellow of both wings more extensive. The name euryptera could therefore be applied at subspecific level.
Geographical range
Sumatra, Nias, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Natuna Is.
