Zurobata rorata Walker
Zurobata rorata Walker, [1866] 1865, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 34: 1276.
Xanthoptera constellata Snellen, 1880, Tijdschr. Ent., 23: 62.
Mestleta multiguttata Moore, 1885, Lep. Ceylon, 3: 210.
Diagnosis
This and Z. intractata have very similar facies, particularly the constellation of white spots at the forewing apex that extends more weakly posteriorly as an irregular, punctate submarginal, with a similar but even weaker postmedial basal to it. These fasciae also occur on the hindwing and have a series of creamier spots or lunules between them. In rorata the forewing discal spot is white, compared with black, and the postmedial has two white marks distal to the discal spot and subdorsally that are slightly more prominent than the rest of the series.
Geographical range
Indian Subregion, Andamans, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Java.
Habitat preference
Bornean representation in BMNH is restricted to a specimen taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably in the lowlands, but Chey (1994) recorded five specimens in a Pinus caribaea plantation and one in a Eucalyptus deglupta plantation near Brumas in the lowlands of Sabah.
