Zurobata fissifascia Hampson
Zurobata fissifascia Hampson, 1896, Fauna Br. India, Moths, 4: 518.
Diagnosis
The wings are rich darkish brown, with a tracery of white lines that marks the posterior edge of the costal band, the angled postmedial of the forewing and the straight postmedial of the hindwing. The line of the costal band of the forewing is marked distally by a more conspicuous fork that reflects the angle of the postmedial.
Taxonomic note
Bornean specimens have the white markings more conspicuous than in typical material from Sri Lanka, but the male genitalia are the same.
Geographical range
Sri Lanka, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference
Thirteen specimens have been taken in recent surveys, two from dipterocarp forest at 30-60m in the Labi area of Brunei, one from Ulu Dusun, 30 miles west of Sandakan in Sabah, and ten from both canopy and understorey samples from primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre (S.J. Willott, unpublished data). Two more were recorded by Chey (1994) from a Eucalyptus deglupta plantation near Brumas in the lowlands of Sabah.
