Toxoproctis signiplaga Walker comb. n.
Artaxa signiplaga Walker, 1862, J. Linn. Soc. (Zool.), 6:125.
Nygmia philippinensis Wileman & South, 1921, Entomologist, 54: 274, syn. n.
Diagnosis
There is a general resemblance to cheela in facies, but for the highly distinctive dark spot at the forewing tornus. Some specimens may have a faintly darker submarginal fascia running anteriorly from this. The male genitalia have the capsule much shorter relative to the size of the valves than in munda. The aedeagus has the straight spine massive and the reflexed one small, and there is only one spined band in the vesica.
Taxonomic note
The two taxa brought into synonymy resemble each other closely in facies and male genitalia, though the spines at the aedeagus apex are more even in size in philippinensis.
