Diagnosis

See hilaris; splendens has a more orange band and pale delineation of some veins on the forewing. There is a broad submarginal to marginal orange band along on the hindwing. The female has bluish iridescence at the base of the hindwing that is lacking in the male.

Geographical range

Borneo.

Habitat preference

The species is very rare. The holotype is a female from G. Kinabalu without altitude data, and Endo & Kishida (1999) illustrated a male from Sabah.
