Pidorus bifasciata Walker
Milleria bifasciata Walker, 1862, J. Proc. Linn. Soc. (Zool.), 6: 99.
Diagnosis
The original description noted the species to have a crimson collar, bipectinate antennae, and rather narrow, blackish brown wings, the forewing slightly pointed, with a broad, palely luteous, slightly oblique exterior band. The forewings are slightly more produced apically than in corculum, and the pale band is broader and more irregularly bordered, the pale colour diffusing along some of the veins over a short distance. The underside is similar but has diffuse, bluish grey patches on the margins, but these are much fainter, duller and more extensive than in corculum.
Taxonomic note
The species was placed as sister-taxon to “Prosopandrophila” mirifica Swinhoe (Thailand) as sole members of Clade 9 of Yen et al. (2005), with indication that both required transferral to a new genus. The abdomen of the holotype has been partly devoured by pests distally, and the genitalia appear to be damaged. However, Yen et al. (2005) coded male genitalia characters for the species for their analyses, presumably from another specimen, but details of this have not been forthcoming.
Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species is known only from the holotype male (OUMNH: 206), taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably in the lowlands.
