Diagnosis

This is a larger, more uniform (the greatest variegation is at the forewing tornus) pale fawn-brown species resembling breviuscula but lacking the hindwing modification in the male. In some specimens the medial zone is darker brown at the costa, and in others this continues in a diffuse, elliptical course to meet the costa again subbasally. The modification of the male eighth segment and genitalia to face dorsally has been mentioned in the generic account. The tegumen is produced into socii as in the previous two species, but these are much shorter.

Taxonomic note

Specimens from Queensland attributable to praedulcis do not differ from brunnea in facies or genitalia.

Geographical range

Indo-Australian tropics to Queensland and the Solomons

Habitat preference

Two specimens were taken during the Mulu survey: from alluvial forest at 70m and from hill dipterocarp forest at 500m on G. Mulu. There is also an older specimen from Pulo Laut, a low-lying island at the south-east of Borneo.
