Diagnosis

The species is very variable in forewing facies as illustrated, but is characterised by reduced hindwing venation in combination with the generic radial sector branching; the male hindwing is diagnostically bilobed.

This is one of the smallest Bornean species.

Geographical range

Borneo, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, New Guinea, Queensland, Vanuatu, Fiji.

Habitat preference

The species is uncommon, with most material taken in the lowlands, including from secondary forest and coastal localities.

One specimen was taken at 1365m on Bukit Retak in Brunei.

Biology

The species has been reared from Mangifera (Anacardiaceae) flowers in Thailand (Pholboon, 1965; Kuroko & Lewvanich, 1993).
