Barsine euprepioides Walker comb. n.
Hypoprepia euprepioides Walker, 1862, J. Linn. Soc. (Zool.), 6: 102.
Hypocrita inclusa Snellen, 1877, Tijdschr. Ent., 20: 68.
Lyclene interserta Moore, 1878, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond., 1878: 32.
Asura euprepioides ab. samboanganus Strand, 1922, Lep. Cat., 26: 784.
Diagnosis
The forewing pattern of dark grey reticulation on pale yellow is diagnostic. The lines forming the reticulation are narrower in ssp. interserta, illustrated by Barlow (1982).
Taxonomic note
The genus Miltasura Roepke (type species celebensis Roepke, Sulawesi) is distinguished by an uncus shape as in euprepioides; the ornamentation of the valve is also similar. It is therefore probable that this genus should be placed in synonymy with Barsine.
Geographical range
Borneo, Sumatra; N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia (ssp. interserta); Philippines (ab. samboanganus).
Habitat preference
The species is found infrequently in a wide range of lowland forest types.
