Anuga kobesi Holloway sp. n.

Diagnosis

♂♂ 20-22mm.

This species is distinguished from insuffusa by the orange spot at the forewing tornus, extensive orange on the hindwing and the genitalia characters mentioned above in the diagnosis of insuffusa. It has more produced forewing apices and more distinct fasciation than rotunda Holloway, and the coremata of the male eighth sternite are single.

Now that indigofera Holloway has been identified as the sister species of multiplicans Walker, the taxon elegans Prout, previously a subspecies of multiplicans, merits full specific status, stat. n. In Sumatra it flies with kobesi and a long series of both shown to the author by Dr Kobes indicates the two are distinct. A. elegans is generally darker and lacks the subtornal orange spot on the forewing; the discal spot on the hindwing below is distinctively larger; the orange area of the hindwing tornus is less intense and more broadly edged with white basally than in kobesi
