Diagnosis

With A. constricta, this is one of the smaller Bornean Anuga and is distinguished by the rounded forewings and lack of conspicuous orange patches.

There is pronounced sexual dimorphism, the female having a fairly typical grey fasciated forewing, but in the male this is very dark grey, the fasciae obscure; the male hindwing, is also darker, grading to black towards the base.

In the male genitalia the aedeagus vesica lacks major cornuti, the uncus is very reduced, the saccus has a slender, teat-like apical zone and the dorsal processes of the transtillae are diagnostically crested.

Borneo.

Habitat preference

All specimens have been taken in lowland localities: Ulu Temburong in Brunei, Bidi in Sarawak, and Pontianak (a long series) and Samarinda in Kalimantan.
