Risoba glauca Hampson

Diagnosis and taxonomic note

This species, R. chlora Hampson (Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia) and the undescribed Sumatran and Peninsular Malaysian species (slide 16700) all have a similar, mostly green, fawn and grey forewing facies but differ in the male genitalia. In glauca there is a more clear, unbroken pale fascia postmedially; chlora is a brighter green; the undescribed species is a browner green. All three have a triangular process costally on the valve of the male genitalia similar to that of harmani but based within the valve rather than on its costal margin. In glauca there is a prominent but short crest of spines centrally, dorsally on the aedeagus; the vesica diverticulum is short but with a row of slender spines apically. In chlora (slide 16693) the valve process is more bilobed, the aedeagus without spines but with a broader vesica having a central row of more robust spines. The undescribed species may represent glauca in its localities, but has a longer aedeagus with only a weak cluster of short spines centrally; the vesica is similar but the Sumatran male (16700) has the apical spines more robust and broadly based.
