Euschema resumpta Walker, 1862, J. Proc. Linn. Soc. (Zool.), 6: 94.
Euschema semiplena Walker, [1865] 1864, List Specimens lepid. Insects Coll. Br. Mus., 31: 177-178.
Psaphis natunensis Rothschild, 1896, Novit. zool., 3: 93.
Diagnosis and taxonomic note
See camadeva. This species and camadeva have been thought to show marked sexual dimorphism, but attribution of two types of female in Sundaland to what now appear to be the males of just one of these species has led to much confusion of nomenclature of camadeva.
Males of resumpta have yet to be identified. The female of resumpta is most likely to be confused with that of scotais Jordan, but the two can be distinguished by features of the forewing as follows: the subbasal two spots are equal in size or the anterior one is larger in resumpta, but the posterior one is larger and somewhat elongated in scotais; the antemedial row of spots is in an oblique line or only shallowly concave basad in resumpta, but this row is more arched in scotais, with the third spot from the costa more strongly displaced distad; the submarginal white spot between CuA1 and CuA2 is very weak or absent in resumpta, but distinctly present in scotais females (weak in males).
Geographical range
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Thailand, Natuna Is., Borneo, Sulawesi (the female illustrated as ssp. celebensis by Jordan (1907) is discussed under camadeva).
Habitat preference
The holotype of resumpta was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably in the lowlands. No other Bornean material has been seen.
