Diagnosis
This and Perixera clandestine Prout comb. n. are very similar and can only reliably be distinguished from the genitalia. This species has a narrower angled valve in the male, compared with a quadrate one. In the female the ductus bursae is longer, the bursa asymmetrical. The setose area of the terminal segments is less extensive. On the hindwing, the discal mark is more heavily ringed with dark brown in the next species, which is also slightly smaller.
Taxonomic Notes
The similarity of the male genitalia of niveopuncta and paucinotata was noted by Holloway (1982), but no formal synonymy was made. There is probably no justification in treating the taxa as distinct, and the Oriental range of the species is being extended by further observations (Inoue, 1994; A. Galsworthy, pers. comm.).

Queensland, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Society Is., Tuamotus, Henderson I., Sulawesi, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Nias, Ogasawara (Bonin) Is. Hong Kong.
Habitat Preference
No material has been taken in recent surveys, but older specimens are from the lowlands.
