Diagnosis

The wings are a warm pinkish red, the forewings usually with irregular and diffuse orange blotches. Most, but not all, specimens have the medials and sections of the postmedials finely delineated with black, with a black streak along vein M3.

Taxonomic Notes

There are coremata on the male fourth sternite and basal to the genitalia. The hind-tibia is short with a scale tuft. The valves are strongly divided. The species typifies Eremocentra.

Geographical Range

Queensland, New Guinea, Bismarcks; Sulawesi (ssp. hyperpheres); Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (ssp. flavareata).

Habitat Preference

Only two specimens from Borneo have been located, one from 1618m on Bukit Retak in Brunei and the other (in colln. Herbulot) from 1150m on G. Emas in Sabah.
