Diagnosis
This species and H. binexata have the irregular forewing medial band entire, or narrowly broken centrally in the latter. In the former the posterior half of this band is much narrower, and the anterior section less strongly lobed distally. H. binexata is larger, darker, with a distinctive but diffuse dark submarginal band on the forewing. The forewing below is extensively orange-yellow over the basal two thirds in binexata but reddish apart from a yellow-orange costa in pyrrhophaeata.
Geographical range
N.E. Himalaya, Sundaland.
Habitat preference
The species is common, often abundant, in all lowland forest types except kerangas, in lower montane forest and, more uncommonly, in upper montane forest up to 2000m.
