Enispa rosellus Hampson
Microeschus rosellus Hampson, 1893, Illustr. typical Specimens Lepid. Het. Colln. Br. Mus., 9: 31, 127.
Diagnosis
The wings are pale yellow, heavily marked with vinous red, and with two conspicuous white patches postmedially on all wings.
Taxonomic note
The male genitalia are atypical of Enispa, the valves with an incurved costal spine that extends beyond the apex of the cucullus. The female has apodemes of normal length on the eighth segment and a massive, elongate antrum to the ductus bursae. The corpus bursae is coiled slightly centrally rather than basally.
Geographical range
Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference
Three specimens have been recorded in lowland forest in Brunei: at about 60m in Ulu Belait; at 100m at Rampayoh; at 300m in the Ulu Temburong. Four more were taken in canopy samples in primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah (S.J. Willott, unpublished data).
