Enispa elataria Walker

Diagnosis

In size, wing shape and general facies this species is similar to Enispa rosellus, but there are no conspicuous white patches, and there is a distinctive oblique red line on the forewing from the centre of the costa to the central angle of the distal margin. Posterior to this, and on the hindwing, the yellow ground colour is more evident.

Geographical range

Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Peninsular Malaysia (Barlow colln), Singapore, Java, Borneo.

Habitat preference

Three specimens have been taken in lowland forest in Brunei, two at 100m at Rampayoh and one at 60m at Lamunin. During the Mulu survey, one was recorded in lower montane forest at 900m on the limestone G. Api. Eleven were taken in both logged and unlogged forest at about 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah (S.J. Willott, unpublished data). There is also an older specimen from Sandakan on the coast of Sabah.
