Diagnosis

One of the larger members of the subalbata group, nigrifrons has a heavier dark brown suffusion to the wings, without the clearer area at the hindwing apex seen in subalbata and the next two species. The dark marginal zone of the forewing is elongate, entire. The forewing postmedial is more heavily marked over the anterior half. The male genitalia have the valves broader than in subalbata, the uncus structure more robust. The fan of scales is also slightly larger. The aedeagus vesica has a large and small cornutus distally in the shaft and a few further small ones more basally.

Geographical Range

Burma, Borneo, Java, Flores.

Habitat Preference

Most Bornean material seen is female, from lower (1000m) or upper (1780m) montane forest on G. Mulu apart from one specimen from 1620m on G. Kinabalu. There is a single male from 1680m on Bukit Pagon in Brunei.
