Diagnosis

This species is very similar to D. inundata* but there is less contrast between grey and white zones on the wings: the longitudinal bar on the forewing of inundata is lacking in sugillata. The borders of both wings on the underside are greyish as distinct from the almost black borders of inundata. The hindwing postmedial is more angular in inundata and is deflected outwards towards the costa rather than running straight to it as in sugillata. The male genitalia have two sinuous, intertwined processes arising from the sacculus, the longer, more ventral one with a robust terminal seta. The valve is a distinctive shape, square-ended. Abdominal coremata are vestigial to absent.

Borneo, Sumatra (Sato slide RS-2743).

Habitat Preference

This is a frequent species of the upper montane zone, recorded from many peaks in Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei. A few specimens have been taken at 1000m, but most are from between 1500m to just over 2000m.
