Chorsia octosema Hampson comb. n.
Pseudogyrtona octosema Hampson, 1926, Descr. Gen. Spec. Noctuinae, p. 216.
Diagnosis
The forewings are variegated brown and greenish, with grey and white highlights. The discal dot is at the apex of a greenish triangle at the centres of the costa. The apex is bisected by a white bar, and there is a fine, zig-zag black submarginal. The facies is similar to that of the sequence of four species below from dinglei sp. n., so identity is best confirmed by dissection.
Taxonomic note
The original description included two males from Sandakan as types, but referred to one as aberrant. The latter is in fact a distinct species (see dinglei sp. n. below) and therefore the other specimen should be designated LECTOTYPE.
Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
The only specimens seen are from Sabah, the holotype male from Sandakan on the coast and a second specimen from the understorey of primary forest 150m near the Danum Valley Field Centre.
