Diagnosis

The pale yellow forewings have distinctive rosy brown shading and markings, particularly an angled but obscure medial band that is roughly parallel to the lunulate, pale yellow antemedial and postmedial fasciae (the latter slightly more bilobed distad in the holotype, a female); there are also marginal lunules of the ground colour that are larger at the centre of the straight part of the distal margin between the apex and an angle at one third from the tornus.

The hindwings are a uniform rosy brown.

The labial palps are upcurved.

Taxonomic Notes

‘Tipasa’ subrosea Pagenstecher (Seram, New Guinea, Bismarcks) is similar in facies but, in the male genitalia, has a more slender uncus, narrower, more rounded saccular processes to the valves, and a shorter, broader aedeagus.

Geographical range

Borneo.

Habitat preference

The holotype is from Pulo Laut, a low-lying island at the south of Borneo.

Three further specimens have been collected in recent surveys in Brunei, two from lowland dipterocarp forest at 300m in the Ulu Temburong, and one from swamp forest at 15m at Badas (Daerah Belait).
